Thanks to all the great people who have offered support for my Trabi - I really appreciate your kindness. I bought my Trabi on eBay in 2005 after the Australian government changed their import regulations. I have been interested in the DDR since childhood - some would say obsessed! I have visited many times and am especially interested in the former airline Interflug. It took 10 months of paperwork to get approval for the Trabi to travel to Australia - I bought it for EUR2500 (about A$4000) but by the time it rolled out of the container ship the cost was A$15,000 - including bond store, shipping, port fees and quarrantine. One of our major newspapers did a full page article on it when it arrived, it's also been in a TV commercial and a national motoring magazine will be doing a story on it soon. This car is my pride and joy and people always stop to chat about it wherever it goes! It also gives me a chance to talk about my favourite subject - the DDR - it's amazing how many people have the wrong idea about it and the car! I look forward to staying in regular contact - thanks again for making me feel so welcome and your offers of help! Warmest regards from Australia, Neil

You're welcome! It's really interesting to hear or read your story. So I've question on you. Is it possible to give us an idea of what the people are thinking about that car? I'm also interested in what your newspapers were writing about it. Can you show a scan or whatever of that story?
Thank you so much!
