Dear friends, I have a Trabi 1.1 from 1991. I bought it in Hungary when it was new and took it to England (and registered it there). Now I live in France and my yellow Trabi and I are very happy. But soon I am moving to another country and I fear it is time to sell my 1.1. It has 55,000km on the clock but it has suffered a bit from being parked in the street in Paris where the drivers are crazy. I wonder if anyone can give me an idea of how much my Trabi is worth and if anyone, anywhere, will buy a Trabi with Hangarian plates (don't worry it has French technical test and insurance, but I cannot register it here). Advice please in English or German. Thanks

In which country do you like to move? And isn't it possible to take the trabi with you?

Hi,

there should be a Trabiclub in France too. It was called somtething like "Club Euro-Trabi" and chairman was a someone named Claude Martin.

Maybe you get fourther (Mist, jetzt fehlt das Wort - also weitere Unterstützung) there ...

I am moving to Sweden and I don't think the climate is very Trabi-friendly. Club Euro-Trabi here in France say the 1.1 sells for about 1000 euros in Germany. There are hardly any of them in France. I am therefore wondering if that is a good price estimate.

For a good 1.1 there can be payed sometimes even more than 1000 EUR. But if you say he car suffered from parking in the streets of Paris, then 1000 EUR seem to be a good and realistic price.

But from far away without seeing the car it's always difficult to say something about the price. But if the people of Euro-Trabi in France, which told you this price, have seen your car, then the price they told you should be ok.

Perhaps you can put some photos in here?

alexandra: please take your trabi with you to sweden! I know 3 trabi-owners in sweden! they drive their cars all the year without any problems! really! regardless of which type of trabi (601 or 1.1) I really can't understand, where there should be a problem.

to which region in sweden do you move? perhaps we meet us there? we drive every year to sweden with our trabi for holiday. this year we will be there from end of july for perhaps 2 weeks.

and if you need some help with installation of a preheat-system or a normal heating, I can give you the mail-adresses of the swedish trabi-owners.

In my oppinion the climate in Sweden isn't an argument because there is a Trabiclub in Finland too ...
So please take your Trabi with you to Sweden !!!

YOU PEOPLE! You drive me mad! It has taken me months and months to try to convince myself to part with my beloved Trabi (we have been together for 14 years)and most of you say PLEASE PLEASE keep it!
Still I am very grateful for the information because I know now that she (the Trabi) will not sell for more than 1000 euros or so... that may be a fair price for a 14 year-old second-hand car but my Trabi is much more valuable to me than that! And so maybe, yes, we will travel to Sweden together. If so, I now have another question. Does anyone know how heavy a trailer a 1.1 can support and even if there is a possibility to put a towbar on the back of the car? I am moving to Sweden (in August) so I will have a lot of luggage.
Thanks to all the loyal Trabi owners!

Ne, sie will mit dem Trabi einen Anhänger ziehen und fragt auch nach einer Hängerkupplung.

Dear Alexandra, you can install the same trailer hitch as it is used for the latest version of 601 (equipped with coil springs at the rear suspension). The trailer hitch of the 601 with leaf springs at the rear suspension does not fit. The towed weight is equal to the 601, 300 kg unbreaked and 400 kg braked. Regards, Stefan
